Scottsdale, AZ - Learn Fresh and MLB Players Trust are excited to announce the student selections for the 2025 MLB Players STEM League Global Championship. This year’s event will be held from March 21-23 in Scottsdale, AZ, in conjunction with MLB’s spring training. It will feature participants from STEM League programs across the U.S. and Dominican Republic, Colombia, and Brazil.
The MLB Players STEM League program, launched in partnership with MLB Players Trust in 2022, is a baseball-inspired STEM program for middle-school students. Designed in a board game format and aligned with curriculum standards, the program captures the energy of baseball while offering students an engaging way to strengthen their math skills. Since its inception in the United States, the program has expanded to serve students in Latin America, and most recently in South Korea and Japan as of 2024. During the 2025 season, MLB Players STEM League served 500 educators and over 25,000 students across all regions.
Last year, Learn Fresh and MLB Players Trust co-hosted the Global Championship event in Arlington, TX, during All-Star Week. Twenty-five students hailing from seven states and three countries participated in three days of intense gameplay, learning, and fun! Since its official launch in early 2022, Learn Fresh and the MLB Players Trust have organized regional MLB Players STEM League tournaments in Nassau, Bahamas (in partnership with Babe Ruth League and the Bahamian National Sports Authority), as well as in Bogotá and Cúcuta, Colombia (in partnership with Project Béisbol).
Each year, Learn Fresh and MLB Players Trust curate a weekend of exciting activities for students, celebrating the culmination of their hard work and dedication throughout the MLB Players STEM League season. This year’s Global Championship, taking place earlier than in previous years, will center around spring training events. Students will have the opportunity to explore Scottsdale, AZ, participate in a STEM activation, and watch their favorite players at a spring training game, complete with a special spring training experience. The final round will be hosted at MLBPA’s headquarters, where students will compete for the title of MLB Players STEM League Global Champion.
"The Players Trust is honored to support the MLB Players STEM League Global Championship alongside Learn Fresh,” says Jason Cantor, Associate Director, Major League Baseball Players Trust. “This event not only highlights the global appeal of baseball but also reflects the commitment of MLB Players to inspiring the next generation through education, teamwork, and perseverance."
To qualify for application to the Global Championship, students must reach All-Star Student status during the season by displaying 1) a high degree of growth through the program, 2) a dedication to practicing good sportsmanship, and 3) an ability to overcome adversity either inside or outside the classroom. Students must also complete a minimum of 10 MLB Players STEM League games by March 14th, 2025 (one game is defined as 15 minutes of physical board game play).
